# Release Runbook

1. Confirm the working tree is clean.
2. Update `[project].version` in `pyproject.toml`.
3. Update `CHANGELOG.md`.
4. Run linting.
5. Run tests.
6. Build wheel and source distribution.
7. Run `twine check`.
8. Review package contents.
9. Create and push the release tag.
10. Publish through the intended package workflow.
11. Install the published version in a clean environment.
12. Verify `dplay --version`.
13. Run a smoke test against a DjangoPlay development repository.

## Versioning

The project uses Semantic Versioning.

The current package metadata declares:

Development Status :: 5 - Production/Stable
```

and requires:

```text
Python >= 3.11
```
